This comes with clear instructions in english as well as a drawing of how to install it. The ceiling bar fitting allows it to be set flush to a ceiling with a recess or without one. If without a recess, the connection needs to be made in the ceiling cavity or using a very slim connector as the back of the unit has very little depth for an electrical coupling (about 10mm). The 18w version I bough is very bright but (being 4000K) it is fairly blue-white. The only downside is that the LED is not replaceable so the amount of landfill waste per 'bulb' is quite high.
